Marginal improvement
You're probably feeling overwhelmed. So much to do for your Airbnb, yet so little freely available budget and time.
But don't worry, because there is an ingenious, omnipresent solution to your problem: Time. Instead of doing everything at once, spread it over time.
It's called a plan, and a plan is most effective (and efficient) when it's well defined. I suggest you start by defining the goal. Where do you want to be in a year? What should your Airbnb look like? Create a vision in your mind. After that, it's time to get into details (attention! This envisioning could turn out vastly enjoyable!):
- What vibes? What predominant colors?
- What furniture (supporting the vibes)? Save some screenshots or links from actual lighting, sofas, tables, beds, etc.
- What stock? Again, paint an exact picture of dinnerware, various utensils, and cleaning tools in your head. Then bring it to paper.
- What amenities? TV, Netflix, fast internet, parking, etc.
- What renovations? New floor, fixing the drainpipe in the kitchen, painting the walls, etc.
Now that you know where you're going let's remember where you are right now. Take inventory - meaning, look at where your Airbnb is today in every aspect of the game (again, this has high chance to be a lot of fun!):
What do you have already? Write down everything you can consciously become aware of. A great view from your kitchen window? A washing machine?
Tip: Again, you don't even need to create the vision and take inventory in one session. I get it - you're busy. Sit down and think about this for just 15 minutes per day. But do it every day. Until you deem your goal somewhat complete (it should never really become complete - it will always be a living beast that breathes and changes).
Bonus takeaway: This process will also be immensely helpful for writing and maintaining your listing on Airbnb.
The bare essentials to provide for your guests.
Browse products nowFrom that point onward, you're essentially set. Find the gaps between your future vision and today's state of your place, and start filling these. I recommend doing another optimization: order the identified gaps (in whichever form you want to track them) by priority-to-cost ratio.
Now it's time to take action. Commit a time + money budget per month to work through your items, and your vision will inevitably become a reality over time.
Congratulation, you just slaughtered your whole Airbnb competition.
